The finance department is headed by the Director of Finance- Mr. Chapa Kanfwa. It is responsible for managing the Council’s financial resources, commercial services, and stores to support program implementation and ensure accountability. Key functions include preparing financial reports, implementing internal controls, collecting and accounting for revenue, maintaining financial records, managing payroll and assets, conducting business research, overseeing hospitality services, managing risks, and handling stores operations.
Finance Section
The Finance Section manages the Council’s financial resources to support program implementation and ensure compliance, transparency, and accountability. Its key functions include preparing financial reports, implementing internal controls, collecting and accounting for revenue, maintaining financial records, managing payroll and assets, overseeing stores functions, mitigating financial risks, and preparing annual audited accounts.
Stores Unit
The Stores Unit is responsible for managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of goods to ensure their safe custody and efficient use. Key functions include implementing internal controls, receiving and accounting for procured items, distributing goods to departments, and conducting stock takes to maintain optimal inventory levels and support informed decision-making.
The Commercial and Business Development Section
The section is responsible for managing the Council’s commercial services and driving business growth. Its core functions include developing new business ventures, conducting market research, providing research and development services, and managing hospitality and other business-related services. This section is headed by the Commercial Manager.
