Limulunga Town Council on 27th January, 2026 officiated the handover of newly constructed boarding dormitories and accompanying ablution blocks at Nangula Secondary School, at a total cost of approximately K1,960,525.74, marking a historic milestone that establishes the institution as the first-ever boarding secondary school in Limulunga District.
The handover ceremony was graced by Government Representation, Hon. Mubita Anakoka, MP for Luena Constituency. He was accompanied by Nangula Ward Area Councillor, Hon. Simbuwa Sicacani.
As the implementing authority, Limulunga Town Council was represented by the Director of Engineering, Mr. Hinji Rudge Malesu, who also stood in for the Council Secretary, and the Director of Planning, Mr. Mukosi Maboshe, alongside other council officials.
The event was also attended by Area Chief Induna Lubinda Tanga, representing traditional leadership, with the District Education Board Secretary (DEBS) Office, represented by Mr. Wakung’uma Mwangala, as well as media personnel from Bulozi TV and ZNBC.
The delegation was received by school management and the local community. The event was characterized by Student performances through plays and poems, while women from the surrounding community participated in traditional dances to warmly appreciate the occasion, reflecting strong community support and ownership of the project.
Speaking during the event, stakeholders commended Government for its continued investment in education infrastructure and for advancing the Presidential Agenda of inclusive and equitable access to quality education, particularly in rural areas. This was made possible by the expanded CDF. The newly handed-over facilities are expected to improve learner access, retention, and overall academic performance.
Speaking on behalf of the school, Headteachers’ Representative, Mr. Mwiinde Douglars, and PTA Chairperson, Ms. Roseline Mumbula, expressed gratitude to Government and Limulunga Town Council for prioritising education development in the district, noting that the boarding facilities will greatly enhance the school’s capacity to serve learners from across Limulunga.
